Karine (Kurkjian) is a freelance photographer and
elementary school teacher. She has an M.A. in Educational Administration,
California State university, Los Angeles; May, 1997 and B.A. in
Photography and Social Work, University of Maryland, Baltimore
County; May, 1985.
Karine has had several photography exhibitions in Los Angeles
area. Her photographs have been published in AIM (Armenian International
Magazine), Ararat Quarterly, The Guardian, and the Glendale News-Press.
Karine attended two photography treks, Portugal (October, 1999)
and China (October, 2000). She has traveled extensively and has
photos from different countries. She is fluent in English, Armenian,
Farsi and Spanish. She loves dancing and outdoor activities. She
is a hiking leader with Sierra Club at Griffith Park, California.
Karine’s first poems were in Armenian and Farsi. Since May
of 2005 she started writing poems in English. Don Campbell’s
poetry workshops has been inspiring for her to take her writing
seriously.
